FAQ

UTV FAQs — Rocks & Docks Adventure Rentals

Everything you’ve ever wondered… and a few things you didn’t know you needed to know.

Do I need a reservation?

Walk-ins are welcome, but UTVs go fast — especially on beautiful days.
To avoid showing up sad and UTV-less, we recommend checking availability first or giving us a quick call.

How old do I need to be?

To drive or sign the rental agreement: 21+
To carry a minor passenger: 25+
All drivers: must have a valid driver’s license.
All passengers: must be able to:

  • Hold on with both hands
  • Sit with their back against the seat
  • Plant feet firmly on the floor

And yes, everyone wears helmets and eye protection.

Do I need a deposit?

All renters choose an Adventure Assure damage-protection option. Here’s the super-simplified version:

Included Adventure Assure (Standard)

  • Vehicle Damage Max:
    • UTVs: $3,000
    • Slingshots: $1,500
  • Driver Liability: Covers accidental injury or property damage to others (not your passengers or the vehicle you’re driving).
  • Accident Insurance: Up to $25,000 in accidental medical + emergency evacuation + more.
  • Loss of Use & Recovery: Capped at $750.

Upgraded Adventure Assure ($24 Upgrade)

Cut your max cost IN HALF.

  • Vehicle Damage Max:
    • UTVs: $1,500
    • Slingshots: $750
  • Loss of Use & Recovery: Capped at $250

If something gets damaged… how does it work?

  • We assess damage after your ride.
  • You’re only responsible up to your selected coverage max — never more.
  • Liability/medical claims are sent directly to the insurance contact.

When does my rental time start?

Your rental time begins at your reserved time — not the time you show up.

Please arrive 30 minutes early to sign waivers and get checked in.

  • If you are late → time still starts at the reservation time.
  • If we hold you up after you arrive 30 minutes early → we adjust your time.

During peak summer, we stay booked solid, so we appreciate everyone being on time!

Can I drive on the streets in Disney?

Kind of!
UTVs aren’t street legal in most places, BUT the Town of Disney allows them on specific roads and on the shoulder of Highway 28. However, you CANNOT cross the spillways or the Pensacola Dam.

You can ride directly from our office to the trails. No trailering needed.

Please follow posted rules in town — any tickets you earn are your very own souvenirs.

Do I have to clean the UTV before returning it?

Just remove trash and personal items.

We wash the UTVs afterward.
However, excessive mud (like “we tried to bury the machine to the center of the earth” mud) does come with an extra fees.

How do we stay safe out there?

Disney’s terrain is beautiful but rugged. There are steep drops and no guardrails.

Follow these golden rules:

  • No drugs or alcohol before or during the ride
  • Seat belts on at all times
  • Helmets & goggles must be worn
  • Obey speed limits
  • No aggressive stunts (jumping, drifting, racing, donuts)

We want you to have fun AND come back in one piece.

Can my dog come?

Absolutely!
Just make sure your pup is secure and comfortable — we sadly do not offer doggy helmets yet.

What Should We Bring?

Pack the essentials… and the fun stuff:

  • Closed-toe shoes
  • Water
  • Sunscreen
  • Eye protection
  • Snacks or a picnic lunch
  • Camera or binoculars
  • Fishing gear + license
  • Cooler (we’ve got straps ready!)
  • A Bluetooth speaker (music makes the memories even better!)
  • A good attitude — because a little sunshine and a little mud are all part of the adventure.

Basically, bring what makes the day fun — we’ll provide the wheels and the good times.

What is your cancellation policy?

  • Cancel 72+ hours before your rental → full refund minus 5% (this fee goes straight to our booking platform, not us).
  • Cancel within 72 hours → unfortunately no refund.

No refunds for early returns or bad weather.
We do offer Sensible Weather Guarantee as an optional add-on for weather protection.

How do payments and deposits work?

  • We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and AmEx.
  • Before departure, we place a $1,500 or $3,000 hold (depending on coverage chosen).
  • If the UTV returns damage-free → that authorization is released.

Everyone must sign the rental agreement and liability waiver.

Can we split the cost of the rental?

Sorry — no.
Our system only allows one payer per machine.

But you can absolutely Venmo/PayPal/Cash-App your friends afterward and remind them they owe you forever.

What if we damage a machine?

If you bend it, break it, crack it, or rearrange its natural shape… you’re responsible.

BUT — we are fair:

  • No markups
  • No hidden fees
  • No “downtime charges”
  • You only pay actual part + labor, and never more than your Adventure Assure max.

We take timestamped photos and videos before and after every rental — and we encourage you to do the same.

Do you offer group rentals?

Yes! We love group adventures — with rules to keep things running smoothly:

  • Each machine must have its own responsible renter (that person signs for that specific UTV and provides the card for that machine’s damage deposit).
  • Responsible renter may allow other licensed adults (21+) to drive, but they remain responsible.
  • Each machine is individually documented with photos & walkaround videos at check-in and check-out.

This protects YOU and us — everyone leaves happy.

How long does it take to ride the trails?

Most guests spend:

  • 2–3 hours for a quick adventure
  • 4 hours for a solid half-day ride
  • 6–8 hours if you want to explore deeper trails, stop for lunch, or fish/swim

Disney’s trails can keep you busy all day if you want!

What happens if it rains?

You ride… or you don’t — totally up to you.
UTVs can handle light rain just fine.

We do not refund for weather unless you have Sensible Weather add-on.

Do the UTVs have storage?

Yes! They have a cargo bed area perfect for coolers, backpacks, and your goodies.
Just pack smart and secure anything you don’t want bouncing around.

Are the trails marked?

Some are marked, but not all — Disney’s trail system is a mix of man-made routes and natural terrain.

Good news: You won’t be out there guessing your way home.

Here’s what we provide:

  • trail map
  • Route suggestions based on your comfort level
  • Staff tips for beginner, intermediate, and “I feel brave today” riders

Plus, our RZRs come equipped with Ride Command, which is basically an onboard trail GPS.
It shows:

  • Real-time trail navigation
  • Points of interest
  • Breadcrumb tracking (it literally draws a line everywhere you’ve been so you can follow it back)

And for extra peace of mind, all our UTVs have GPS trackers, so getting lost is nearly impossible — and if you somehow manage it, we can help guide you right back.

Stay aware, take it slow on unfamiliar terrain, and follow marked trails when available — but rest easy knowing you’re fully covered on navigation.

Can we switch drivers during the ride?

Yes — as long as:

  • The driver is 21+
  • The driver has a valid license
  • The responsible renter understands they’re still responsible

Switching is totally fine on safe, flat ground.

Do you offer guided tours?

At this time, our rentals are self-guided, but you absolutely can have a guided experience!

We highly recommend Disney Off-Road Trail Tours.
They offer fantastic guided rides and know the terrain, the history, and the hidden gems of Disney better than anyone. Many guests choose to rent the UTV from us and book a guide with them — it’s the best of both worlds.

If you book far enough in advance and Disney Off-Road Trail Tours is unavailable, we will do our best to arrange a guide on our end. However, guided availability through Rocks & Docks cannot be guaranteed.

Explore at your own pace or with a pro — either way, you’ll have a great adventure!

What happens if we get stuck?

It happens!
You can call us and we’ll talk you through basic recovery steps.
If the machine needs to be professionally recovered:

  • You are responsible for the recovery fee (capped by Adventure Assure coverage).

But don’t worry — we give you tips on what to avoid so you don’t get stuck.

Can we tow or pull anything with the UTV?

No towing, no pulling, no dragging, no makeshift sled rides behind the UTV 😅
It damages the machines and can be dangerous.

Can we bring our own helmets?

Absolutely!
Just make sure they meet safety standards. Must be DOT certified.

Where do we park when we arrive?

We provide clear parking next to our shop.
If spaces are full, our staff will point you exactly where to go.

Do you rent during the winter?

Yes — weather permitting.
Trails in winter can be gorgeous, but colder and more rugged. Dress warm!

Do you offer discounts?

We occasionally run promos — follow us on Facebook/Instagram or join our email list for deals.

Can I trailer the UTV or have it delivered somewhere else?

For insurance reasons, customers cannot trailer or transport our UTVs to other locations.

In some cases, we may be able to deliver to certain nearby riding areas if the location allows it and our schedule permits, but this is not guaranteed and is handled on a case-by-case basis.

If you’re interested, just ask — we’ll let you know what’s possible at that time.

Do all riders need a waiver — even children?

YES. Everyone. Absolutely everyone.
If they’re riding in the UTV — they must have a signed waiver.

And here’s the pro tip of the century:
Please complete all waivers before you arrive.

It helps:

  • Get you checked in faster
  • Get you on the trail quicker
  • Keep your group together
  • Get your whole group checked in without delays so you can start the fun sooner

Do the waivers early → enjoy the adventure sooner!

Can we split the cost of the rental?

Sorry — no.
Only one person can pay for the Slingshot in our system.

But you can Venmo/PayPal/Cash-App your friends later and remind them they owe you lunch.

What if we damage a Slingshot?

If you bend it, scrape it, crack it, or otherwise “add personality” to it… you’re responsible.

BUT we are fair:

  • No markups
  • No hidden fees
  • No “surprise” charges
  • You only pay actual parts + labor up to your Adventure Assure max

We also take timestamped photos and videos before and after every rental — and we encourage you to do the same.

Can we bring our own helmets?

Yes!
Just make sure they are DOT-certified.

Do you rent during the winter?

Yes — weather permitting.
Slingshots are open-air vehicles, so winter rides can be chilly. Bring layers!

Do you offer discounts?

Sometimes!
Follow us on Facebook/Instagram or join our email list for any promos.

Can I trailer the Slingshot or take it somewhere else?

No.
For insurance reasons, customers cannot trailer or transport our Slingshots.

We may be able to deliver to certain approved nearby locations if our schedule allows, but this is not guaranteed and handled case-by-case.
Just ask — we’ll let you know what’s possible.

Do all riders need a waiver — even children?

YES. Everyone. Absolutely everyone.
If they’re riding in the Slingshot, they must have a signed waiver.

Pro Tip:
Please complete all waivers before arriving. It helps:

  • Speed up check-in
  • Get you on the road faster
  • Keep your whole group together
  • Avoid delays so you can start the fun sooner

Do the waivers early → enjoy the ride sooner!

Is the Slingshot a motorcycle or a car?

This one gets asked constantly.
Answer: It’s technically an autocycle, but you drive it like a car — steering wheel, gas/brake pedals, no leaning, no shifting (unless manual).
(And no motorcycle endorsement needed.)

Does the Slingshot have a trunk or storage?

Yes — but keep expectations realistic
There are small lockable compartments behind the seats. Enough for:

  • A backpack
  • Small cooler
  • Sweatshirt
  • A few personal items
    Not enough for:
  • A week’s vacation
  • Your dog
  • Your Costco haul

Is it hard to drive?

Nope! Most people say it’s easier than they expected.
If you can drive a normal car, you can drive a Slingshot.
(Just remember: it’s VERY open, VERY windy, and VERY fun.)

Is it safe?

Yes — when driven responsibly.
It has:

  • Seat belts
  • Roll hoops
  • Stability control
  • Traction control
  • ABS brakes

But remember: it’s open-air, low to the ground, and you will feel every bit of wind.

Can kids ride in a Slingshot?

Yes, if they can safely sit in the seat with seatbelt on and are able to follow safety instructions.
(There’s no backseat and no car-seat anchors.)

How fast do Slingshots go?

Fast enough to smile.
Not fast enough to outrun a speeding ticket.
(And yes — those are 100% your responsibility.)

Can we listen to music?

YES — Slingshots come with Bluetooth audio.
Pair your phone and enjoy the ride.

Can I take the Slingshot off-road or onto gravel roads?

No.
These are paved-road machines only.
They do NOT do well on:

  • Gravel
  • Mud
  • Sand
  • Dirt
  • Riverbeds
  • Anywhere a UTV would go

Can we switch drivers?

Yes!
As long as the new driver is 21+ with a valid driver’s license and the responsible renter understands they are still the one responsible for the machine.

What happens if we get caught in the rain?

You get wet.
Slingshots are open-air, and the weather in Oklahoma can change quickly.

We recommend bringing:

  • A jacket
  • Extra layer
  • Hat
  • Trash bag for your belongings
(Real Slingshot riders call this “the full experience.”)

Can we do burnouts, donuts, drifting, or racing?

Hard no.
Slingshots sit low, have one rear wheel, and can get unstable with aggressive maneuvers.
Plus, it’s not allowed under our rental agreement.

Do I need to refill gas?

Your Slingshot goes out with a full tank.
You can either:

  • Bring it back full (91 octane ONLY), or
  • We can refill it for you for a standard refueling fee.

Please do not use anything lower than 91 octane — lower-grade fuel can damage the engine and result in additional charges.

Are pets allowed?

No — Slingshots are not safe for dogs due to wind, noise, and zero surrounding structure.

Can we drive at night?

Yes, as long as it is within your reserved rental window and returned on time.
Slingshot headlights are great for evening cruising.

Do you have automatic or manual Slingshots?

We have both!
Whether you prefer the ease of an automatic or the fun of shifting through the gears, we can match you with the Slingshot style you like best.

Where can we go?

Pretty much anywhere you want within your rental window — as long as you stay on paved roads only.

We offer both hourly and multi-day rentals, so whether you’re cruising around Grand Lake, exploring nearby towns, or taking a scenic sunset ride, you’ve got options.

Before you head out, we’ll also share:

  • Fun scenic route suggestions
  • Local photo-worthy spots
  • Routes based on your interests (water views, twisty roads, food stops, etc.)

Go explore — the open road is yours!
